Looking for a guest lecturer in your comics class? A workshop leader for a small group? A presentation about self-publishing, starting out as a freelancer, or creative motivation? Fear not! I am fully qualified to help.
Previous speaking events include The Animation Workshop (Webcomics), the Independent Publishing Resource Center’s Certificate Program (Kickstarter Basics, Freelance Practices, Intro to Webcomics), Reed College (Jam Comics 101, Freelance Badassery, Successful Kickstarters), Stumptown Comics Fest (The Righteous Creative), Emerald City Comic Con (Freelance Like a Rockstar), Linework NW (Modern Realities of Fundraising for Comic Artists), and the Vancouver Comic Arts Festival (Breaking Into Comics, Building Comics Communities, Comics for All Ages, Best Foot Forward: Promoting Your Comics and Yourself).
I’ve also given class presentations for students from ages 8 to 16 at Monica Ros School, the Catlin Gabel School, Oregon Episcopal School, and Evergreen Middle School.
I love talking about the creative process, especially when it comes to helping newer creators set realistic goals to tackle their first projects. I’ve served as an advisor to students in the IPRC’s Certificate Program and now do freelance project consultation for cartoonists of all stripes.
